Cahergall Stone Fort is located near Cahersiveen in Ballycarbery East on Iveragh Peninsula in County Kerry. The name Cahergall comes from the Gaelic words, Chathair Gheal, which mean “The Bright Fort”. Recently renovated dry-stone walled ring fort probably dates from late Iron Age or early Medival period. It has about 25 meters in diameter, walls are up to 4m high and up to 5m thick at the base with the lintelled entrance in the south- east. Inner wall contains system of stairs leading to the top. In the center of the fort stand the remains of stone building. Standing on fort's walls you will see Leacanabuaile Stone Fort and ruins of the Ballycarbery Castle in the distance. It is well worth a visit if you plan to explore County Kerry.
