The Irish National Heritage Park is an open air museum located on the picturesque banks of the River Slaney on the outskirts of Wexford (just off N11). The park, situated on 35 acres of natural woodlands and wetlands takes you on the journey through the Ireland's ancient past, which starts 9000 years ago when first people (hunters-gatherers) appeard in Ireland. There are reconstructions of human settlements, stretched on the history timeline, between stone age and Norman invasion of Ireland in 12th century. Mesolithic and Neolithic huts, Bronze Age burial place, stone circle, Early Christian settlement, ring fort, crannog, Viking's boatyard, round tower and Norman castle there are all collected in one place. The Irish National Heritage Park hosts many ineresting events and craft courses and additional attraction is Ringfort Stayover, which can be booked for 6 people in visitor center. There is also "Fulacht Fiadh Restaurant" serving traditional home cooked meals, light bites, desserts, speciality teas and coffees. The Irish National Heritage Park is great fun and very educational experience for all ages.
