National Botanic Gardens in Dublin were founded in 1795 and since then it's very popular place amongst Dubliners and well known tourist attraction. It's also important place of botanical research and conservation, and home of College of Amenity Horticulture. The gardens are beautifully situated on the banks of the River Tolka in Glasnevin. Everyone and at any time of the year will find somethig interesting. There are rock gardens, alpine yards, rose gardens, herb and vegetable gardens, arboretum, pond and four glasshouses with palms, orchids, ferns and many others interesting plants. National Botanic Gardens are maintained by OPW and are open for free, daily for all year.
