The Cavan Burren is a group of megalithic monuments situated on limestone plateau about 4km south of Blacklion (part of Marble Arch Caves UNESCO Global Geopark), in the northwest corner of Co. Cavan. The prehistoric complex consists of the monuments dating back to Stone Age, Bronze Age and Early Medieval times. There are two portal tombs: Burren Portal Tomb and The Calf House Dolmen, two wedge tombs: The Giants Leap and Tullygobban Hill Wedge Tomb, remains of a small promontory fort, hut sites and pre-bog drystone walls. All of the monuments are spread close to each other in a beautiful forest park with well-made paths and boardwalks. Area offers a stunning vista of the surrounding landscape including excellent views of Cuilcagh Mountain, Lough McNean and on fine day, Lough Allen in Co. Leitrim. There is also a visitor centre interpreting the archaeological, geological and cultural history of Cavan Burren Park.
