Shronebirrane Stone Circle

Shronebirrane Stone Circle is located in the valley of the Drimminboy River, about 4km southeast from Lauragh, on Beara Peninsula, in County Kerry. This recumbent multiple-stone circle has a diameter of 7,5 meters and had 13 stones of which 8 remained. The tallest, north-east portal stone dominates the ring and is about 2.6 meters. The height of the stones decreases toward the recumbent stone, which is 0,7 meters high and 2,8 meters long. The exact date of its construction is unknown but these types of stone circles arose in counties Kerry and Cork between 1500 and 800 BC.
